You know sometimes the wait is worth it. I had been quite busy with a few projects for the past two weeks and this is one of them, my DIY pink dyed faux fur lampshade that I made for curbly What’s new you ask? Well, for the first time I not only shot images as usual but video clips as well. Now, even though it was compiled and edited by curbly, I am grateful I did shoot in the first place as I love how it turned out, check it out here. Funny, how intimidated I was before.
We all have that white faux fur sheepskin from IKEA to serve our desire for lux. But trends have been favoring the most colorful ones lately. I have been tempted to try my hand on dying for quite some time now. Then I saw this post at Brittni’s that refreshed my desire to pursue. Having moved to a new city my bad luck, I couldn’t source Rit synthetic dye for the project. So I knew I had to get creative. Scouring the net, I found some old tutorials to dying fur with a brush and what not, looking at how messy and time-consuming they were I took the challenge to dye with acrylic paint despite the scare that my faux fur would end up stiff. A successful patch test and next thing I know I have an entire sheepskin dyed pink and now we look at my lovely lampshade. Sure, go ahead and read how I dyed at curbly. There is a video to follow, just saying! Clearly, I am excited.
Now tell me, folks, what have you been up to and how is the winter season preparations coming along? I would love to hear from you
