Just wanted to put it out, there have been a few changes in my schedule and time available to me which is why fresh content has been in short supply lately. But worry not, I have something cool up my sleeve that I can’t wait to share it with you all next week. But for now, haven’t you been distracted by this cute spotted place card holders to even read through any of my ramblings. I have speckled and splattered all my heart out for quite some time now but clusters of tiny spots of colors have a refreshing side to them. And they are relatively easier to control and make no mess if that’s your priority. Like the former, it requires no skill. And most importantly they are perfect for spring gatherings
Materials:
- Clay
- Cutter
- Assorted acrylic paints
- Thin bristle brush
Instructions:
Cut a chunk of air-dry clay and shape it with your hands to make an egg. Press the bottom of your clay against a surface to flatten it out so that it can stand on its own. Make a couple more as per the number of guests you usually entertain. But since they are adorable, you could easily make more than a dozen. Cut the top with a sharp cutter approximately 1 1/2 inch deep so you can place a card in it successfully. Leave your egg shaped clay pieces to air dry for at least 24 hours before proceeding to the next step. With any clay, you will need some sanding to get it prepped for glazing or painting. Pick up a thin bristle brush and couple of bright & pastel paints that represent spring and its beautiful colors. Build up a cluster of your first paint and then follow with your next until you have it completely covered with spots. This will take some time but it’s so worth it as you see.
Well, to be honest, I am much more excited to have it as picture holder at my desk. So it’s multiple uses cannot be dismissed.
