Lots of exciting things happening this week, but I can’t share with you yet. I am lucky I got time to wind up this DIY for the week. We have already seen how much fun splattering and speckling can be. But why keep it to black, In order to jump on the train and experience how color splattering would look like I mimicked the idea with a brush to make this DIY color splattered earring holders for my vanity ( which is a disaster, to be honest ) The fresh burst of colors is a great change for this summer.
Materials:
+ Polymer clay ( I used pearl clay, white or gray is fine )
+ Acrylic colors
+ Cutter
+ Brush
+ Brass tube
+ Brass cutter
+ Super Glue
Steps:
1.Warm your clay with your hands, and roll it into a funnel about 5 inches tall like so
2. I was itching for a multi-dimensional surface, and in order to achieve the look, I cut from different angles and sizes to give me that variation. You may, however, chose to stick with your funnel.
3. Coming to the brass holder, mark 3 inches with a sharpie, place it in your brass cutter and rotate till it thins and snips to break.
4.We make a hole in the earring holder by passing our cut brass tube through the other side ( tape the end of the brass tube to avoid filling it with clay )
5.Bake the clay as per the instructions and let it cool for 10 minutes or so. Now apply some glue over the hole so we can insert the brass tube and fix it.
6.Get all your bright colors out and randomly apply with the help of a brush ( mix a color with white for pastel shades ). You may use a toothpick or a pin to make smaller dots. All you have to do is wait for the colors to dry, meanwhile, you may fetch your earrings that you want to hang first.
I am hoping that this earring holder inspires me to wear jewelry more often ( though not this gaudy, this earring was for shooting purpose ) which I seem to have gone downhill for me, there are times when I have to my ear holes to see if they are still open. You can also gift this to a bride, it will come handy for her big day when the organization is a must for her.
