Ask me to create 10 DIYs in a month and I will take that challenge but to get personal is definitely not my cup of tea that introvert that I am. Especially after you get to know that I am publishing this post after a week has passed by my blog anniversary!
The combination of fear of coming out a silly, being called out a bore or to a read a comment in the lines of “well, who wanted to hear that anyways” catches me cold. But the irony is if I don’t then how do we know each other and discuss the next big trend that we got to nail this season. Jokes apart, I will be taking this occasion of completing a year in blogging to lift a few curtains off me.
I started this blog at a time when I was recovering from a major setback in my life and blogging was a great escape it gave me something to work on. Only to realise ultimately this is what keeps me awake at night, hello new ideas. As a kid, I dreamt of growing up to be an artist. And I changed my mind a million times before well turning into a creative blogger that I am today ( close enough to an artist ), I guess the kid me was more certain of the future!
There were a lot of hurdles in this path since I was not much into the internet but more of a bookworm and TV binge-watcher. You can bet, it took me ages to get to the point where I could possibly understand the intricacies of WordPress such as the making of the menus, plugins and what not ( you know when I purchased my domain and hosting? That was back in October 2014! Yes, you read it right )
I had a quite slow start to be honest, a fun fact to add I wouldn’t even care for the season & trends and just write a post with the DIY that I had just made the weekend, pretty cool, right? ( pun intended ) Now, of course, you get to hear from me at least twice a week ( the last week being an exception )
Beginnings are always difficult, but if you are in it every day, ready to learn, you will make it ( future blogger this is for you ) I can safely say a lot has changed since I started, my photography has improved big time. You have to check my earlier posts to tell them apart. My favorite post if you may ask from back then is this DIY Cement studs that I made with gum and pill packs as molds.
Let me tell this, at the end of the day no matter how many plans you make until you don’t step in, you won’t know how things work and that pretty much sums up my life. It’s a never-ending process as blogging is this one platform that changes pretty quick.
I’ve achieved a few goals and am lucky to have been featured by notable sites and of course by other awesome bloggers ( check press for le humble brag ) I also write for diys.com, if you’ve noticed already. Now, that I am getting the hang of it, I hope to keep pushing boundaries and work out of my comfort zone. Take up a few courses. Maybe, come up with a new column that works for both of us ( any suggestions are welcome ). I love Amy’s monthly review where she shares her adventures that you wouldn’t find in her regular posts otherwise.
I am also camera-shy and a very private person, my ridiculous profile picture all over social media is a testament of that. A sneak peek is all I can promise in near future until I…..
This journey has been wonderful and totally worthwhile with your support. I am thankful for each comment, pin, retweet, share, subscription, follow, the list goes on…
