From “Tiny Portions” to Family Feasts: Why the Nuwave Bravo XL Pro Became My Go-To Kitchen Workhorse

If you’re anything like me, you probably love feeding your family well but hate making a massive mess or waiting forever for a giant built-in oven to preheat. For the longest time, I had a love-hate relationship with kitchen appliances.

My old air fryer was fine for quick snacks, but its small basket meant cooking dinner in three separate batches. On the flip side, firing up our full-sized wall oven on a Tuesday night just to bake a pizza felt like total overkill, not to mention how it turned the kitchen into a sauna during the summer.

A few weeks ago, I finally upgraded our countertop setup to the Bravo XL Pro 30QT smart oven. After putting it through its paces, from roasting whole chickens to baking two pizzas at once and slow-cooking on weekends, I wanted to share an honest review for anyone sitting on the fence.

Here’s my honest take on what makes this upgraded XL version worth the counter space.

1. The 30-Quart Capacity Is a Total Game-Changer

If you’re cooking for a family of four or like having friends over on weekends, standard air fryers just don’t cut it.

The biggest draw for me was the 30-quart interior and four-level rack setup. I was a bit skeptical about how much it could actually fit, but it lived up to expectations in real-world use:

  • Real-world capacity: I comfortably roasted a 10-pound whole chicken with room to spare. On movie nights, I’ve loaded up 2 pounds of French fries without them getting soggy from overcrowding.
  • Double pizza power: It genuinely fits two 13-inch pizzas simultaneously. No more eating in shifts or waiting for the second pizza to bake while the first one gets cold!

2. Cooking Performance: No Cold Spots, Crazy Fast Airflow

One thing I used to hate about cheaper toaster ovens was uneven cooking. You’d get burnt edges on the left and pale dough on the right.

The Bravo XL Pro handles heating differently. It uses three heating elements on top, two on the bottom, and what Nuwave calls its Linear-T Technology. Essentially, it maintains a steady, precise temperature without wild heat spikes.

Plus, the upgraded fan speed is a huge deal:

  • Three fan speeds: The fan blows twice as fast as those in basic models, and you can manually adjust the speed from 1 to 3 or even turn the fan off completely if you want!
  • The Turbo difference: Switching to Turbo (Speed 3) when making chicken wings or air-frying vegetables delivers that deep, crispy texture you usually get from deep-frying, minus all the oil. At lower fan speeds, the oven is super quiet and won’t dry out delicate baked goods or fish.

3. The Digital Temp Probe: No More Guesswork

This is hands down my favorite feature. I used to be that anxious home cook who sliced open chicken breasts or steaks every five minutes just to check if they were done.

This machine comes with a plug-in Digital Temperature Probe:

  1. Insert the stainless steel probe into the center of your meat or roast.
  2. Set your target internal temperature, such as 165°F for poultry or 135°F for medium-rare beef.
  3. The oven cooks until the meat reaches the target temperature and then shuts off automatically.

I tried a thick-cut ribeye steak last week using the probe. The result was a beautifully seared crust on the outside and a perfectly tender, pink center, with virtually zero guesswork.

4. Versatility & Healthy Materials

The oven covers a wide temperature range, from 50°F to 500°F, with precise adjustments in 5°F increments. Thanks to that range, it isn’t just an air fryer. It can replace several single-use kitchen gadgets.

It offers 12 preset functions: Air Fry, Grill, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Dehydrate, Proof Dough, Slow Cook, Reheat, Defrost, and Toast.

I was also happy to see that the accessories feature PFAS-free non-stick coating. If you’re trying to avoid PFAS and other chemicals of concern in your kitchen cooking appliances, as I am, that’s definitely a reassuring bonus that helps put my mind at ease.

5. Cleaning & Daily Upkeep

Great performance means nothing if cleaning feels like a chore. Thankfully, cleanup is quick and painless:

The air fryer basket, heavy-duty wire racks, and enamel baking pan are all removable and dishwasher-safe (top rack).

The pull-out bottom crumb tray catches grease drippings and fallen crumbs and seasonings. Once the oven cools down, I simply pull out the tray, wipe it down, and slide it back in. It’s that easy!

How an XL-Sized Oven Actually Fits Into Daily Life?

My biggest worry before getting this oven was that it would become just another bulky appliance sitting on the counter and collecting dust. But after a few weeks of relying on it, it has taken over much of our daily cooking routine.

It simply solves everyday headaches: no long preheating waits, no heating up the whole house, and no cooking dinner in multiple batches just so everyone gets a full plate. Having generous capacity paired with reliable temperature control makes putting dinner together feel a lot less like a chore.

If you’ve been on the fence about whether a larger countertop oven is worth it, this one delivers where it counts without taking up more counter space than necessary.
